High Stakes at The Roulette Wheel - No Tie?

Roulette Spin - Red, Black, Evens, Odds, or?
Going For Broke with no necktie.

Here's a guy that I will presume took off his necktie as he is doing something that is a once in a life time thing. I would probably take off my tie as well if I was him. It is not because he is better off for having a casual appearance - it is because he probably needs to take a really deep breath and wearing neckties in a situation like this one may make a guy a bit nervous. And, being nervous is the last thing that he needs to be. So, I will go on record of authorizing an instance of not wearing ties as good thing. Of course he could have just loosened it. Dare we even consider that he started without a tie in the first place?
Ashley Revell a lucky guy indeed
Ashley Revell sold everything he had - his entire life's worth and travelled from England to the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Atlantic City to bet the entire sum of $136,000 on a single roulette spin. It was basically a double or nothing gamble.

A U.S. roulette wheel has 38 numbers: 1 to 36, zero, and double zero. A bet on red, black, any odd, or any even number carries a probability of a win (the odds) of about 47.37%. That’s a little less than half - the house has slight advantage of about 5.26%. There is one thing that is a constant in roulette, the chance of red, black, even or odds coming up are dead even. The European roulette wheel was invented in the 17th Century by the French, while the American roulette wheel was not invented until the 19th Century.  The difference is simple, the American roulette wheel has two zero slots shifting the odds to the house. If the ball lands on zero or double zero the wager rides for a free spin unless you bet on zero then you win big.

$136,000.00 on one roulette spin
He bet black and then changed his wager to red within the first two revolutions of the ball as the roulette wheel spins – in accordance with regulation casino rules on changing a bet. He could have paired his bet by placing two bets of equal amounts; for example one on red and also one on column three, not a get rich bet, but an interesting way to gamble on roulette.  Further info at Dummies.com - improving your odds at roulette. I will add here to clarify my remarks and to indemnify myself that it takes a dozen guys to calculate a great bet, one to make the bet and 11 to stand over his shoulder and coach him.

Roulete - every possible bet - odds vs. payout
When he switches the bet, everyone cheers, and he certainly feels confident with the emotional out burst from the crowd.  It was exciting for sure, this guy has guts, he is calm and cool and that mesmerizing spinning wheel sure captivates his attention and as well the hundreds of well wishing on-lookers. The ball hops around and it being the meaning of suspense is hardly sufficient.

You have to watch the video to see how it turns out. If he wins it’s a double the money wager. I will add one thing - I do not gamble but I will play the roulette wheel if I end up in a casino and I never bet more than 3 times and I always bet on red. It is something about the spin that captivates me – its’ fun and well, red – that’s a no-brainer, red is an aggressive color and it has its way of answering the challenge. Some people would prefer black, some odds, some evens, some will pair bets, or make multiple bets, and then there are a few that really want to play for keeps and take the grand prize. They’ll bet one number at 37-1 odds. The house pays at 35-1.  Roulette is about the worst bet in a casino and this one is a risk, you gotta feel good about that number or else – well you know what happens then.

What Else Can You Do With A Necktie

Author: Tricia Oliver

Neckties are a must-have for men. You can also make a statement with your necktie by choosing a color or pattern that contrasts with your shirt color or suit.

Fashion is not only for women. The TV show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” and celebrities with style like Brad Pitt and David Beckham have shown that men can be both masculine and fashionable at the same time. Now another popular TV show, AMC’s “Mad Men” have brought increasing attention to a staple masculine fashion accessory - neckties.

Neckties have been worn by men since the 1920s. It has practically become a must-have for working men - especially men with powerful careers - in order to project an image of power and influence. Most men wear neckties with their shirts or suits, and they usually go for simple ties, with monochromatic colors or subdued tones. But is there anything else you can wear with a necktie?

Besides the ordinary colors, why not jazz up your neckties a bit by adding more designs and colors to your ensemble? For one, vintage ties have become increasingly popular these days. The advantage with going vintage is that you get to have the most unique and exquisite design on a tie. In most department stores, neckties tend to have the usual stripes design or colors - but all of them tend to look alike. If you want to set apart from the rest, vintage ties are the way to go. You can choose from an array of eras - the loud-colored neckties of the 1970s or the skinny neckties of the 1950s, or perhaps more vintage patterns that date back to the 1920s.

You can also make a statement with your necktie by choosing a color or pattern that contrasts with your shirt color or suit. For example, pink and yellow neckties are cool colors to go with your navy blue suit. Neckties with unusual patterns like dots, stripes, stars, paisley or even Mickey Mouse can surely be eye-catching and an attention-grabber, but make sure you are using it in the appropriate place or occasion. On the other hand, shorter and slimmer neckties would give you a younger and rock star vibe. For affordable ties, Beau Ties Ltd of Vermont offers a range of men’s accessories, which includes neckties and bowties using designs such as cows, ascot or ladies’ scarves in their list of choices. They also offer a necktie conversion, in which they would convert your much worn out tie into a nice little old bowtie.

Men’s necktie will never drop off from the face of the fashion world - it will always appear and re-appear in similar or different forms, always surprising its wearers of the novelty it can provide in their day to day wear. Of course, a good quality necktie will never fail to complete your wardrobe.

A Lucky Dice Gambling Necktie

Lucky Dice Tie
Dice gambling neckties lucky, maybe ?

This Dice tie may bring you luck however it comes without warranty, guarantee or any other expressed, or written promise regarding the ability of this necktie becoming a magical gambling accessory.  It is only a one of the gambling neckties that we offer, no more, no less.  However, the chance winning at anything is actually part due to having a positive state of mind.

There is a bit of skill and know how that can make the out-come shooting dice manageable if not precise.  I have a friend who loves Craps and swears by his skill.  I have seen him in action and I can tell you that he is on fire usually when he handles Dice.  At least one casino retired their Craps Tables due to his luck with rolling dice.
From a site called Craps Hero and I quote the first paragraph, "Dice Setting and Casino Craps  "dice control" or "dice setting" is an advantage play technique used in craps to set and throw the dice in such a way as to make the dice more likely to land on certain numbers. Skeptics assert that controlling the dice in this way is practically impossible, but notable gambling experts like Michael Shackleford and Stanford Wong seem to give some credence to the notion that this might be possible. If so, then dice and craps could be elevated to a game of skill like darts or pool.  Read more

Here is another site that encourages positive thinking and praying to the Gods, and when rolling the dice follow through with a fluid motion as if you are wielding a weapon. How to make Dice Roll High Numbers

Learn the game of Craps
Craps is one of the most popular ways to gamble in the world. People shoot craps in casinos and back alleys alike because it is easy to learn and, at its core, requires only two dice and players. Although house rules may vary slightly, once you learn to shoot craps you can play anywhere in the world. Read on to learn how to shoot craps.    Read more: How to Shoot Craps

Now as far as gambling here are two examples of why I do not gamble or at least why I gamble the way I do.

The first example:  When I was twenty years old or so a friend of mine encouraged me to go with him to Gulf Stream Race Track in Hallandale Florida on one of those cold winter days, it was about 45 degrees. He was really excited about a horse that he said was a "shoo-in".  He had a tip a together we had about $30.00 total to wager on this horse.  We arrived with just seconds to spare and my buddy ran to the window to place our bet.  Excited, to say the least he came running back, declaring that we were golden.  He showed me the ticket and all of a sudden his face went from smiling to almost crying.   "It's the wrong horse," he could barely speak. "Well that is just great,"  I thought to myself as we walked up the ramp to the viewing area.  The race was just beginning and as usual the spectators were standing and yelling "Come on Swifty Pay Day" and so on.

As the horses rounded the last turn our bet was in second place to last which is exactly where he or she finished.  The horse that we were supposed to bet on came in last; that figured out just fine.  I never went to another horse race.

The second example:  I used to go religiously to every men´s fashion show in Las Vegas, The Magic Show held twice a year.  Now if you have ever been to Las Vegas you can understand the temptation to gamble as from the time you get off the plane until you leave you are surrounded with sights and sounds of slot machines etc.  I have never in my life have had a problem with gambling so I just do not get that crazy feeling to risk money on the chance of winning more.   Now that does not mean that I never gambled, yes I did gamble but in my fashion - much unlike others that visit Las Vegas.

After the day of looking and searching for neckties at the fashion convention, I would visit the Holiday Inn on Las Vegas Blvd. for my gambling fun and dinner.  Walking past all of the tempting slot machines, crap tables, black jack or poker gambling tables I would go straight to the roulette wheel.  I would always have two five dollars bills in my pocket as I had a plan that was bullet proof, almost.  Since there was a 49% chance of winning if a bet was placed on red or black.   I would chose one or the other and place my five dollar bet with the chance of getting ten dollars back.

If I would be successful and the winning of ten dollars was the outcome then I would put my five dollars back in my pocket and then run up the escalator just to the side of the roulette wheel and buy the five dollar all you can eat buffet.  That would mean that I was dinning for free and all you can eat no less.  If I lost my bet then I would run up the escalator and buy the five dollar all you can eat buffet with my remaining five dollar bill that was safely stored in my pocket.  Since this was my five dollars and not the Holiday Inn's five dollars then I would just stuff myself a lot more. This way I would still be a winner just in case I could not win a small wager with a 48% return of success.

Dice have been around for over 5000 years, first being used for Backgammon in Asia.  Read more about the fascinating history about Dice at The history and other interesting facts about dice at Wikipedia.org the free encyclopedia on line
