No Question - Romeo and Juliet is a classic.
William Shakespeare wore a tie of sorts and he surely gave his dashing character the charm and style to captivate women so Romeo probably did wear ties. A Romeo without a necktie would not be a Romeo at all as Shakespeare could not overlook that his romantic character would need style. The Bard of Avon is revered as the greatest writer in the English language, and was well known for his keen fashion sense. Written in Verona Italy in 1595, his play Romeo and Juliet is for certain a timeless classic. “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”

Romeo without a tie would make Romeo and Juliet some what of a difficult tale as everyone knows that women fall for well dressed men who wear ties. An important accessary not over looked in the screenplay by Craig Pearce - Romeo did wear a necktie in the 1996 block buster film directed by Baz Luhrnann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo, and Clair Danes as Juliet.

A charisma so powerful that no woman could ever forget, as Dolly Parton's lyrics in her country song Romeo spells out - the attraction that this swooner processes is magical. “…Romeo comes struttin' in and everybody looks. 'Cause he's just got that special thang. That everybody needs and everybody wants him but not as bad as me. Hey, Romeo, where art thou. Get out here on the floor. I want to dance you darlin' - 'Til you forget wherefore... Romeo, Romeo, Romeo come dance with me “
Her lyrics do Romeo and Juliet justice, as romantic as possible the Bard said it all so wonderfully. “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." - William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, 1.5
So if anyone dares doubt that Romeo wore neckties, that notion would be just a foolish thought. He did get Juliet, the girl of his dreams, and he could not have been in more of a romantic story. Since romance is what all women desire then maybe Romeo sets a great example for men who desire the company of women.
A very dear friend loves Rap music, which I have no love for what-so-ever. Oddly she often plays Dolly Pardon's Romeo which gave me the interest in searching the web to find out if Romeo wore ties. I own the DVD and have watched it at least 20 times, but I had missed this interesting addition to the modern day Romeo's fashion attire. At present I am working on many articles that will soon find their way to posting that highlight neckties and Hollywood films. Stay tuned. Jeffrey Hunter www.nicetiestore.com
