The Beatles Necktie - My Favorite Tie Today

The Beatles White Album Tie
My favorite Beatles tie is The White Album Tie partly because my favorite Beatles Song is Revolution.

Revolution was written by John Lennon in 1968 in two versions; a hard rock version which was released on the B side of the single Hey Jude, and as a slower blues version titled Revolution 1.  The slower version of Revolution was released on the Double Album - commonly known as The White Album.  A third version  Revolution 9 was also included on the White Album.

The single jacket for
Hey Jude - Revolution
Inspired by the Vietnam War political protests which apparently Lennon saw with some doubt as expressed in his lyrics, "But when you talk about destruction, Don't you know that you can count me out."  A Revolution video was broadcast by the BBC on Sept.19 1968 - about a month later on Oct.13 Revolution was broadcast on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

The Beatles Revolution
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be all right?
All right, all right
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money
For people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be all right?
All right, all right
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be all right?
All right, all right!
All right, all right, all right!
All right, all right, all right!
All right, all right!

John Lennon Ties - Collector Items

John Lennon
"Imagine all the people" John Lennon ties

Neckties that illustrate artwork and themes from the Beatles legendary co-front man John Lennon were produced by Lennon’s wife Yoko Ono in 2008. She licensed an American clothing brand to use her late husband’s art on a brand new line of neckties. Eight different ties were designed by the Ralph Marlin Company, each adorned with Lennon’s own paintings. Beatles ties were very popular in the 90’s featuring many of their songs and lyrics highlighting wonderful graphics and art made by the Manhattan Men's Group. Ralph Marlin produced a line of Beatles neckties also in the 90’s that included art work and graphics from the Yellow Submarine movie, album covers, graphic illustrations and photos that became a great novelty fashion accessory success. No doubt, John Lennon ties will be collector items.

The Beatles

Along with fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most successful music groups of the 20th century. Rolling Stone magazine boldly ranked Lennon the 5th greatest singer of all time. With McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star the Beatles became a sensation that at first started in the UK in Liverpool. Their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964 marked the beginning of their intense International stardom.

John Lennon’s creativity, inspirational lyrics and his charisma seemed to capture fans from the early 60;’s when Beatle Mania first took off. After the breakup of the Beatles in 1970 he continued to write songs and produce music that mesmerized people young and old across the world. In 1971 Lennon and Ono moved to New York City he and Ono. His rebellious ways and his anti Vietnam stance caused President Richard Nixon to have him investigated by the FBI which resulted in several attempts to have him deported. His music and lyrics became rallying themes for the anti war movement in the USA. On Dec 8th 1980, three weeks after he released Double Fantasy he was murdered in front of his home, the Dakota on the upper west side in Manhattan at just 40 years old.

John Lennon Neckties

John Lennon’s name, his music and artwork is not the first to be used on a line musician theme ties. Elton John ties, also illustrating lyrics and song themed artwork, were produced by Castle Neck wear in the mid 90’s which were produced as limited editions becoming collector items quickly. Carlos Santana also had his name and creativity capitalized into rock and roll theme neckties which were illustrated in a colorful and bold collection.  They were produced as a limited edition and quickly became collector items.  The most successful of all musician theme or even Hollywood star theme ties is Jerry Garcia “art In Neck Wear.” In 1992 Garcia ties were introduced by Stonehenge which became an instant phenomenon with professionals and men who could wear a necktie and still be a rebel. A line of neck wear called Grateful Dead was also produced at the same time by Mulberry Neck Wear which eventually produced the signature Jerry Garcia tie. Today Garcia neckties are made by Superba which will soon mark the 20 year anniversary of Jerry Garcia ties.  It is the same guy that loves Jerry Garcia ties that will also love John Lennon ties.

Beatle Mania hits the USA

Rock and roll ties illustrating Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC DC, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley have also been very popular with men who grew up in the 70’sd and 80’s. These Rock music legend ties did not always illustrate artwork inspired by the musicians themselves however did illustrate album covers and photographs or graphic designs.
